Kannathil Muthamittal was a critically acclaimed movie directed by Maniratnam and released almost a decade back. The movie was supported by music composed by ARR. The title track "Oru deivam thantha poove" along with "Vellai pookal" became huge hits. When I heard the first mentioned song for the very first time, it touched my heart immediately. What a haunting tune! Not to forget everything else associated with this song. ARR received the national award for the best music direction. Lyricist Vairamuthu won the national award for the best lyrics and Chinmayi received the Tamilnadu State Government Award. I got reminded about this song, while I was randomly searching through some videos and stumbled upon a video, where ARR and Chinmayi was performing this particular song. This was performed at Nehru Indoor Stadium in front of the CM J.Jayalalitha. I was truly mesmerized by Chinmayi's singing. Do check out this link to see her performance.
